Blues vs. Oilers Pick
Will the St. Louis Blues upset the host Edmonton Oilers as a small underdog tonight at 9PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Oilers are a -125 favorite on the moneyline. The Blues are a +105 underdog, while the over-under sits at 5.5 goals.
St. Louis enters play with a 13-5-1 record after a 7-4 loss at the Flames on Monday night. Edmonton comes in at 7-9-2 after an 8-2 home victory over the Golden Knights Tuesday. The Oilers won all three meetings last season and the under went 3-0.
In the Blues’ loss at Calgary, Vladamir Tarasenko scored two goals to lead the way. Jaden Schwartz and Alex Steen each tallied a goal and an assist. Brayden Schenn added a pair of assists. Jake Allen allowed six goals on 36 shots.
Edmonton was paced by Connor McDavid with two goals and an assist in the victory over Las Vegas. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored two goals. Patrick Maroon and Mark Letestu each had a goal and an assist. Leon Draisaitl and Jujhar Khaira both had two assists. Cam Talbot recorded 22 saves on 24 shots.
Allen and Talbot are expected to be back in goal for this contest.
The Blues are 19-7 in the last 26 meetings. The under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
McDavid and company looked great versus the Golden Knights, but this is a much tougher opponent and one that will be a little salty after a disappointing showing at Calgary. We like St. Louis to get the job done here as Allen bounces back with a big performance.
