NHL Predictions: Can Blue Jackets upset host Hurricanes? 10/10/17

Blue Jackets vs. Hurricanes Pick

Are the Columbus Blue Jackets going to skate to a win at the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday night? The puck drops at 7PM EST.

The Hurricanes are listed as a -125 favorite to win on the moneyline according to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv. The Blue Jackets are a +105 underdog and the over-under is 5.5.

Columbus enters with a a 1-1-0 record after a 5-1 loss at the Blackhawks on Saturday. Carolina is 1-0-0 after defeating the Wild 5-4 in  shootout at home in its opener Saturday night. The four meetings were split 2-2 last season with the home team winning every game. The total went under three out of four times.

The Blue Jackets’ lone goal on Saturday’s loss was scored by Sonny Milano, his second goal in as many games. Nick Foligno and Gabriel Carlsson had assists. Joonas Korpisalo allowed five goals on 29 shots to take the loss.

Carolina received goals from Joakim Nordstrom, Derek Ryan, Noah Hanifin and Victor Rask in its season opener. Jaccob Slavin scored the lone goal in the shootout. Scott Darling made 23 saves on 27 attempts and did not allow a score in the shootout to post the victory.

Bet on Blue Jackets vs. Hurricanes

The Hurricanes looked explosive in their season opener, but it looks as though they still have plenty of trouble in their back end. Expect the Blue Jackets to take advantage as they want to rebound from Saturday’s blowout loss. As long as Columbus tightens up its own defense, it should be able to post the road victory here.
