Anaheim picked up a huge 3-2 OT win at Nashville in Game 4 to even up this series at 2-2. Both teams have picked up a win at home and on the road. The Ducks are 56-27-14 overall and 34-10-5 at home. Nashville is 51-32-13 overall and 21-23-4 on the road.
The Ducks almost let Game 4 slip away on Thursday night. They heled a 2-0 lead entering the third period thanks to goals from Rickard Rakell and Nick Ritchie. The Predators made it 2-1 on a goal from P.K. Subban midway through the third. Filip Forsberg then found a way to sneak in the tying goal with 35 seconds left in regulation. Despite the letdown, the Ducks managed to win in OT when Corey Perry got a stick on the puck 10:25 into the extra frame. Anaheim managed to outshoot Nashville in the win and were even on hits. Both of those were lacking in Game 3.
Anaheim got the memo that it couldn’t win this series by letting the Predators dominate the shot count. The Ducks played a much better game on Thursday night and they need to take that strategy into tonight’s game at home. Despite both teams winning on the road in this series, the home team is 5-2 in the last seven games between these two. I think the Ducks return home with some momentum that will carry over into this game.
