Avalanche vs. Jets Pick
Can the Colorado Avalanche notch the upset as a big underdog tonight when they travel to the Winnipeg Jets for an 8PM ET start?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Jets are listed as a -210 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Avalanche are a +175 underdog, while the total sits at 5.5 goals. Winnipeg opened as a -185 favorite before the spread grew.
As of Friday afternoon, 75 percent of bets have come in on the Jets. Online wager info also shows 70 percent of bets being placed on the over.
All three games this season have been won by the home team. Colorado won a pair of 3-2 overtime games on Nov. 29 and Jan. 2. Winnipeg returned the favor with a 3-0 shutout win on its home ice 13 days ago. The Jets are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings, while the under is 7-3 including the last three games. Colorado has struggled on the road as of late with losses in five of its last seven, but did win 5-4 at Buffalo in its last road tilt. The Avs also secured a 2-0 home win over Montreal in their last contest to come in hot.
While the Jets have been very strong at home this season with a 21-5-2-0 record, they have lost two of their last three on the home ice including a 3-1 defeat to the lowly Rangers. Additionally, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck hasn’t been in top form lately. With the Avalanche having a strong goaltender of their own in Jonathan Bernier (.916 save pct.), I’m going to take a shot at an upset tonight. The Jets have overachieved some this season and could be feeling the pressures of solidifying their playoff spot.
