Capitals vs. Bruins Pick

Are the Washington Capitals going to post a road victory tonight at the favored Boston Bruins? Game time is 7PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Bruins are a -130 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Capitals are a +110 underdog, while the over-under sits at 5.5 goals.

Washington enters with a 19-12-1-0 record after a 5-2 home victory Tuesday night over the Avalanche. Boston is 15-9-3-1 following a 3-2 overtime win Wednesday night at Detroit. The Capitals won the first meeting this season by a 3-2 score in Boston on Nov. 4. Washington is 4-0 in four meetings since the start of last season. The over-under is 2-2.

In the win over Colorado, John Carlson broke a 1-1 tie with a goal with 2:18 left in the second period and the Capitals rolled from there. Brett Connolly, Matt Niskanen, Devante Smith-Pelly and Jakub Vrana scored one goal apiece. Evgeny Kuznetsov dished out three assists, while Madison Bowey tallied two assists. Braden Holtby saved 22 of 24 shots sent his way to record the victory.

Boston defeated the Red Wings 35 seconds into overtime as Brad Marchand lit the lamp off an assist from Torey Krug. It was Krug’s second assist of the game. Noel Acciari and David Pastrnak scored a goal each in regulation. Marchand added an assist to go with the game-winner. Tuuka Rask recorded 31 saves on 33 shots to get the win. Pastrnak tied the game with 1:26 remaining.

Washington is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings and 5-0 in the last five meetings in Boston. The under is 21-5 in the last 26 meetings in Boston.

Bet on Capitals vs. Bruins

The Capitals have had the Bruins’ number in recent seasons, winning the last five meetings in Boston. Making matters more difficult for the hosts is that this is a back-to-back with travel. Fire up Washington with confidence as a small underdog. Alexander Ovechkin (21 goals, 12 assists) has been quiet without a goal the last three games, so look for him to notch an important goal or two. Hat trick maybe? Holtby will likely be in net for the Caps, but look for the Bruins to turn to Anton Khubodin (7-1-2, 2.53 GAA).
