NHL Predictions: Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning 10/9/17 NHL Predictions: Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning 10/9/17

Penguins vs. Capitals

Are the Pittsburgh Penguins going to record a win Wednesday night at the Washington Capitals? The puck drops at 7:30PM EST.

Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have made the Capitals a -130 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Penguins are a +110 underdog and the over-under is set at 6.

Pittsburgh enters the game with a 1-1-1 record following Saturday’s 4-0 shutout home win over Nashville. Washington is 2-0-1 after a 4-3 overtime loss at the Lightning Monday night. The two teams split last year’s meetings 5-5 with the Penguins winning a 4-3 series in the postseason.

Matt Murray made 26 saves to post a shutout for Pittsburgh in Saturday’s win. Jake Guentzel, Olli Maatta, Evgeni Malkin and Ryan Reaves scored one goal apiece. Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust both had two assists.

Washington was led by TJ Oshie on Monday as he had two goals and an assist. Nicklas Backstrom also had a goal, while dishing out two assists. Philipp Grubauer made 36 saves in the losing effort.

Bet on Penguins vs. Capitals

The Penguins are arguably the favorites to win a third straight Stanley Cup, but they’ll have to get through a Capitals team with an eye on a bit of revenge after the way last season ended. With Washington being on its home ice, we like Alexander Ovechkin and company to get the job done here.
