Bruins vs. Penguins Pick
Will the Pittsburgh Penguins win on their home ice tonight when they play the Boston Bruins? Game time is 7:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the moneyline is set at a pick’em between the Bruins and Penguins. The total sits at 5.5 goals.
Boston comes in with a 23-10-4-2 record after a 7-1 home win Saturday over the Hurricanes. Pittsburgh is 21-19-2-1 following a 4-0 victory Friday at the Islanders. The Bruins won the first meeting this season by a count of 4-3 on their home ice. The four meetings since the start of the 2016-17 season have been split 2-2. The over went 4-0 and has gone over the last six meetings in the series.
In the win against Carolina, Patrice Bergeron had a huge game with four goals plus an assist. David Pastrnak tallied a goal plus two assists. Jake DeBrusk and Riley Nash each scored a goal. Brad Marchand dished out four assists. Anton Khudobin saved 27 of 28 shots to register the win. Boston secured a 5-1 lead through one period and never relented.
Tristan Jarry saved all 31 shots sent his way to notch the shutout in the win at New York. Daniel Sprong accounted for two goals and an assist. Sidney Crosby recorded a goal and three assists. Evgeni Malkin also scored a goal. Dominik Simon dished out a pair of assists. After a scoreless first period, the Penguins put in three goals in the second period with Sprong’s being the game-winner.
The home team is 5-0 in the last five meetings. Boston is 7-2 in the last nine meetings. Pittsburgh is 0-6 in its last six games following a win.
Pittsburgh has struggled to put two wins together lately, but this could be a good spot to get it done. The Penguins have a day of rest as opposed to the Bruins, who are playing a back-to-back. Jarry is playing very well in goal, while the Pittsburgh stars have shown up on the scoresheet lately. With the home team winning the last five in this series, I’m sticking with that trend.
