Nashville took Game 1 of the series on Wednesday night, 4-3. The Predators are now a perfect 5-0 in the postseason with three wins on the road. Nashville comes into tonight’s game 46-29-12 overall and 20-20-4 on the road. St. Louis is 50-31-7 overall and 25-14-5 at home.
The Preds established a 2-0 lead in Game 1 and St. Louis eventually fought back to a 3-3 tie. Vernon Fiddler then got the game-winner with five minutes to play. Nashville had a 32-30 edge in shots in the win and also had a 38-23 edge in faceoffs. Pekka Rinne made 27 saves, but allowed three goals, which was all he gave up in the entire Chicago series.
The Predators are hot and it’s hard to pick against them right now. I went with St. Louis in Game 1, expecting the Blues to look sharper because of a long layoff for Nashville. However, the Preds came out fast and didn’t look back. St. Louis should be desperate, but I think Rinne should have a stronger outing today and the Predators are playing with all the confidence in the world. I’m rolling the dice on Nashville.
