Connor McDavid picked up a goal and an assist during Monday’s 4-3 OT win over the Montreal Canadiens. McDavid continues to pile up points this season, but it will be interesting to see whether or not he suits up on Wednesday night in Montreal or in the regular-season finale on Saturday against Vancouver. McDavid set up Dominik Kahun’s go-ahead goal (3-2) in the second frame and he added the game-winner on a breakaway in overtime. Believe it or not, McDavid had his hands full with the Canadiens’ checking line of Artturi Lehkonen, Jake Evans and Paul Byron. The Oilers captain has 33 goals and 102 points in 54 games this season. He’s going to win the Hart Trophy.
Montreal Canadiens DFS Spin
Jake Allen allowed four goals on 35 shots in Monday’s 4-3 OT loss to the Edmonton Oilers. The good news is that the point in the standings allowed the Canadiens to clinch the final playoff spot in the North Division. The bad news is that Allen was kind of fighting the puck a little bit in this one. He ended up allowing the game-winning goal to Connor McDavid in the extra frame. Allen has now dropped three games in a row and he has an 11-12-5 record. He owns a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage in 2021. It’ll be interesting to see if Carey Price (concussion) is back for the start of the playoffs.
Oilers vs. Canadiens Prediction
The under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Montreal. The under is also 9-3 in the Oilers’ last 12 road games, is 7-2 in their last nine games as a road favorite and is 16-7-1 in their last 24 games as a favorite. On the other side, the under is 7-2-1 in the Canadiens’ last 10 home games and is 5-2-2 in their last nine games as a home underdog.
