Malkin pots goal in overtime win
Evgeni Malkin scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime win over the Kings. Malkin’s goal tied the game at 1-1 in the second period. He’s been okay in December, posting four points, nine shots on net and a minus-1 rating. It’s a little disappointing that he’s not more involved with the Penguins scoring four goals per game so far this month. Malkin has a total of seven tallies, 19 assists, 65 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and a minus-13 rating through 33 appearances this season.
Marchessault scores in Tuesday’s win over Rangers
Jonathan Marchessault scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and went plus-2 in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over the Rangers. The Predators look to have something with a line of Marchessault and Filip Forsberg centered by Steven Stamkos. Marchessault has three goals and three assists over his last four outings, including his game-winning tally Tuesday. The winger is up to eight goals, 19 points, 97 shots on net, 52 hits and a minus-8 rating over 32 contests this season. If the line sticks together and continues to find success, the window to buy low on Marchessault in fantasy will close quickly.

Take Pittsburgh. The Penguins have won seven out of their last 10 meetings with the Predators. They’ve also been the better team of late. While Pittsburgh is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games, Nashville is just 2-5-3 over its last 10 contests. While the Predators have won two out of their last three games, they’re not that far removed from a significant losing streak. All their offseason moves have amounted to a collection of talent instead of an overall team.
