Washington is the top seed in the East and the top seed in the Metropolitan region while Philadelphia is the fourth seed in the region. The Capitals have the home-ice advantage in the series. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Capitals are the clear favorite to win, as they are getting odds of -300 to win, while the Flyers have odds of +250 to prevail.

Washington had the best record in the NHL this season as the Capitals were 56-18-8 on the year, 29-8-4 at home and 27-10-4 on the road. The Flyers were 41-27-14 on the season, 23-10-8 at home and 18-17-6 on the road. These two met four times during the season, with both teams winning twice, once at home and once on the road. Washington had 12 goals in the four games while the Flyers had 10.
Washington had the second-most goals in the NHL this season at 252 while allowing the second fewest at 193. Led by 50-goal scorer Alex Ovechkin, teams haven’t had an answer to slow down the Caps. Braden Holtby has been strong on the other end with a 2.20 GAA for the season. The Flyers scored just 214 goals this season, but allowed only 218. Still, Philly will need to find some hot sticks to win this series. Only three players had 20 or more goals for the team this year.
