Matt Duchene scored the shootout-winning goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Duchene also added the only assist on Nick Cousin’s goal (1-0) in regulation. The Predators forward followed that up by scoring in the second round of the shootout. He finished the night with an even rating, three shots on goal and two hits in 18:16 of ice time. The 30-year-old has struggled out of the gate in his second season with the Predators, as he’s picked up just three assists in his first seven games of 2021. Hopefully this game gives him the boost he needs.
Tampa Bay Lightning DFS Spin
Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed one goal on 36 shots in Thursday night’s 1-0 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. It’s hard not to feel bad for Vasilevskiy as he was perfect in regulation and faced three shots in overtime, while his team wasn’t able to generate a single chance in the extra frame. The 26-year-old had some help from his posts early in the game as the Hurricanes peppered the Lightning net all game long while he stood tall. It feels like Vasilevskiy is still in mid-bubble form from last season as he has been the backbone to this Lightning team early on in the campaign. The former Vezina Trophy winner is off to a hot start with a 3-1-1 record and a 1.98 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.
Predators vs. Lightning Prediction
The under is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 9-2 in the Predators’ last 11 games playing on two days of rest. The under is also 3-1-1 in the Preds’ last five games overall and has cashed in four of their last five games when they face a team with a winning record. On the other side, the under is 3-1-3 in the Lightning’s last seven home games and is 3-0-2 in their last five games after scoring two goals or less in their previous contest.
