New York Rangers DFS Spin
Igor Shesterkin let in three goals on 29 shots in Friday night’s shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. After a really good first period from Shesterkin, the 25-year-old looked really shaky on the last two goals the Penguins scored in regulation to tie the game. Jared McCann scored on a scramble in front that Shesterkin looked like he lost track of where the puck was and Teddy Blueger caught the Russian netminder completely out of position on the game’s tying goal. Kris Letang and Jake Guentzel scored in the shootout to seal the Rangers’ fate and now Shesterkin will have to wait another night to record his first win of the season. Shesterkin now holds a 0-1-1 record in three games with a 2.95 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage.
Pittsburgh Penguins DFS Spin
Tristan Jarry stopped 31 of 34 shots in Friday night’s win over the New York Rangers. Jarry had a second period to forget, allowing three goals on just seven shots thrown at the net by the Rangers in the period. Other than that, the Penguins goaltender played an amazing game, keeping his team in it and allowing them finish off the comeback win in the shootout. Jarry still hasn’t solidified himself as the bonafide starter in Pittsburgh, but the gutsy performance from the 25-year-old will certainly put him in head coach Mike Sullivan’s good books, especially after his two really poor performances prior to Friday night. Jarry now holds a 1-2-0 record with an ugly 5.28 goals-against average and .821 save percentage.
Rangers vs. Penguins Prediction
The over is 17-6-3 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and is 10-0-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Pittsburgh. The over is also 7-3 in the Rangers’ last 10 road games and is 7-3 in the last 10 games as a road underdog. On the other side, the over has cashed in five straight Penguins’ games and is 8-2-1 in their last 11 games as a home favorite.
