Igor Shesterkin allowed two goals on 41 shots during Thursday’s 5-2 win in Game 2 against Pittsburgh. Shesterkin made a number of key saves in the third period when the game was still close. There was a scary incident in the third period when the Rangers netminder and Jeff Carter collided. Shesterkin stayed down for a while, but it appeared as though he was just trying to ensure his team got a power play out of the incident (they did). If the Rangers win this series, they’ll need their Russian netminder to have the type of success he had during the season. This best-of-seven series is tied, 1-1. Game 3 will be played in Pittsburgh on Saturday night.

Tristan Jarry (lower body) is still going through his off-ice rehab and he didn’t skate on Friday. Jarry’s status remains the same, per coach Mike Sullivan. He hasn’t played since Apr. 14 because of a lower-body injury, which is reportedly a broken bone in his foot. It remains uncertain when he will be available to return, but there is some urgency building in Round 1 now that Casey DeSmith is out for the rest of the playoffs following core muscle surgery.
Rangers vs. Penguins Betting Prediction
The Rangers are 1-5 in their last six games in Pittsburgh, while the home team in this series has cashed in 11 of the previous 15 meetings. The Rangers have also dropped four of their last five games overall, are 3-8 in their last 11 playoff games when favored and are 1-4 in their last five games when facing a team with a winning record. The Penguins, meanwhile, are 4-1 in their last five home games, are 13-5 in their last 18 games as a home dog and are 7-1 in their last eight games after allowing five goals or more in their previous game.
