Franson admits offseason was tough
Cody Franson of the Buffalo Sabres admitted over the weekend that free agency was difficult and didn’t exactly go to plan.
Franson, an unrestricted free agent at the start of the offseason, signed a two-year deal with the Sabres on September 10. The contract is worth $6.65 million for an annual average value of $3.325 million after finishing with seven goals an d36 points in 78 games between Toronto and Nashville last season.
“The whole free agency experience went very different than we had planned. With the cap not going up and a lot of the teams that were very interested in us, they didn’t have a lot of options,” Franson said per Yahoo.com. “They were pretty tight against the cap as-was. There were some trades that were made that ended up taking away some of our suitors. I think this was a year where everything kind of changed really.”
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Sabres are 85/1 to win the 2016 Stanley Cup.
