Buffalo Sabres Fantasy Spin
Jonas Johansson turned aside 18 of 21 shots in Thursday’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Johansson gave up two goals to Dylan Larkin in the first period, but his team battled back to tie the game twice in the third period. He also gave up two goals in the shootout to take the loss in his first NHL start.
New York Rangers Fantasy Spin
Igor Shesterkin stopped 27 of 30 shots in Wednesday’s 5-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 24-year-old has looked solid during a small sample size in the NHL. He’s now just the second Rangers goaltender ever to collect a win in four of his first appearances (Cam Talbot was the other one). The rookie has a 4-1-0 record with a 2.61 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage this season. He has a bright future ahead of him, but his fantasy stock this season will be limited because the Rangers are using three goalies.
