Giroux scores empty-net goal in win vs. Wild

Claude Giroux scored an empty-net goal on two shots in Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Wild. Giroux continues to be productive — he has two goals and four assists over his last seven contests. He’s done that with a slightly reduced role on the third line, though he continues to see time on the power play. The 36-year-old forward is at nine goals, 24 points, 69 shots on net, 33 hits, 21 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating over 36 outings this season.

Kyrou continues mastery of outdoor hockey

Jordan Kyrou scored a goal Tuesday in a 6-2 win over Chicago in the Winter Classic outdoor game. Kyrou scored a power-play goal from the left circle in the first period to put the score up 2-0. He has four points (two goals, two assists) and 13 shots in his last four appearances and 32 points (16 each) in 39 games this season. Kyrou has a knack for outdoor games — he had an NHL outdoor-game record four points in the Blues’ 6-4 win over the Wild in the 2022 Winter Classic in Minneapolis.

Senators vs. Blues Betting Prediction

Take Ottawa. These two teams met towards the end of October and the Senators handed the Blues an absolute beating. Ottawa opened up the scoring with three first period goals. They then added three more goals in the second period before adding a pair of tallies in the third period. The Blues finished third that night.

The Senators have dropped three out of their last four games entering play tonight but they’re also 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. The Blues, meanwhile, are incredibly inconsistent and have been virtually all season. They have won three out of their last four games overall, but aren’t too far removed from dropping three straight from December 17 through December 20. Following their big win at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Eve, I’ll gladly fade St. Louis.

Senators vs. Blues Prediction: Ottawa Senators -115
