Ottawa Senators Fantasy Spin
Anders Nilsson (concussion) is not skating at the moment. It is unclear if Nilsson suffered a setback in early January as he faced shots during practice on New Years Day. “He’s [Nilsson] continuing to go through the rehab he does here,” said Ottawa coach D.J. Smith. “At this point he’s not ready to return. Hopefully, this week off will give him some more time and we can get him back. It’s a big hole and he’s played some really good hockey for us, but we wouldn’t have had a look at (Hogberg) if he hadn’t gone out”. Until Nilsson is back on the ice, there will be no timetable set for his return to action.
Buffalo Sabres Fantasy Spin
Linus Ullmark allowed just two goals on 37 shots in Saturday’s 2-1 road loss against the Nashville Predators. Ullmark was making his 17th start in the past 19 outings for the Sabres, as head coach Ralph Krueger continues to lean heavily on the Swedish backstop since veteran Carter Hutton has been horrific. Despite the loss, Ullmark is 16-13-3 with a 2.70 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. He’ll have plenty of time to rest, as the Sabres are off until Jan. 28 against the Ottawa Senators thanks to the All-Star break.
