Sharks Season Odds
Can the San Jose Sharks challenge the Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks in the Pacific Divsiion this year? Oddsmakers have established the Sharks’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 7/1.
The San Jose Sharks had a busy offseason as general manager Doug Wilson hired former Detroit Red Wings assistant coach Todd McLellan. Wilson also signed defensemen Dan Boyle and former Norris-winning defender and one-time Stanley Cup champion Rob Blake.
Boyle and Blake join a club that already has stud goalie Evgeni Nabokov, who in 77 games finished with a .910 save percentage, as well as top scorers Joe Thrnton and Patrick Marleau.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have listed the Sharks’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 12/1. Bodog has San Jose at 12/1, while Sportsbook.com gives the Sharks a 20/1 shot.
With all of their offseason moves, the Sharks are in position to make a run at this year’s Stanley Cup. Obviously all of the new talent has to blend in with the previous regime, but McLellan, although inexperienced, might be the right man to make things work in San Jose. The Sharks have two big things going for them: Excellent special teams play and a great goal-tending situation. They also have more than enough offense and an improved defense. Don’t be surprised if this club is around at the end of the season and making a deep postseason run.
