The Dallas Stars appear to be the team to beat in the Pacific Division, but can they win the Cup? Oddsmakers have established the Stars’ odds at 16/1 to win the 2009 Stanley Cup.
The Stars are going to get some competition this year from the San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division and the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference, but they’re certainly one of the favorites to win a Cup this year given their overall team balance.
Dallas has a tremendous mixture of talent including hall of fame center Mike Modano and defensemen Sergei Zubov, to key prosects Fabian Brunnstrom, Matt Kiskanen and Nicklas Grossman. Brenden Morrow, Mike Riberio and Brad Richards complete a roster stacked with talent.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have listed the Stars’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 12/1. Bodog has Dallas at 16/1, while Sportsbook.com gives the Stars a 20/1 shot.
The Stars are absolutely stacked and at 16/1 odds, they’re a sound bet to win the 2009 Stanley Cup. They have the best coaching in the division outside of maybe Anaheim, and an outstanding offense, defense special teams unit and goaltending situation. They’re going to get a push from the Sharks and maybe even Ducks, but Dallas is primed and ready to make a run at the Cup this year.
