Lightning down Rangers in OT
Tampa Bay secured its 10th straight win Wednesday night at New York by a count of 4-3 in overtime. Victor Hedman scored his eighth goal of the season in OT to win it off assists from Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos. Tyler Johnson put the Lightning (49-11-4) up 1-0 in the first period with his 22nd goal on assists by Kucherov and Anton Stralman. J.T. Miller pushed it to 2-0 with a power play goal later in the first with assists going to Kucherov and Hedman. After the Rangers trimmed it to 2-1 in the first minute of the second period, Dan Girardi added a goal a couple minutes later to make it 3-1 on assists by Stamkos and Brayden Point. New York tied it up with a pair of goals later in the second, while neither team found the back of the net in the third. Andrei Vasilevskiy registered 33 saves on 36 shots to post the win.
Bruins tame Sharks
Boston rolled to a 4-1 home win Tuesday night over San Jose to improve to 37-17-9 on the season. San Jose struck first in the first period before the Bruins scored four unanswered goals. David Krejci scored on the power play with 5:21 left in the first on assists by Torey Krug and Brad Marchand to even it at 1-1 through 20 minutes. Charlie McAvoy broke the tie with 10:51 on the clock in the second period on assists from Marchand and Danton Heinen. Jake DeBrusk scored 37 seconds later off assists by Krejci and Marcus Johansson. Marchand completed the scoring at the 7:32 mark of the second on a shorthanded goal, his 25th of the season, on assists from Patrice Bergeron and Brandon Carlo. Jaroslav Halak saved 19 out of 20 shots sent his way in the winning effort.
