Toronto lost 5-3 at home Saturday against Ottawa as they surrendered two third-period goals to break a 3-3 tie. Morgan Rielly, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner all had a goal and an assist in the loss. Tyler Ennis and Patrick Marleau both added an assist. Frederik Anderson allowed four goals on 23 shots to take the loss.
Blackhawks secure win in OT
Chicago won by a 5-4 score in overtime Saturday at St. Louis, its second straight OT win to open the regular season. Jonathan Toews scored the winner 2:20 into overtime on assists from Brandon Saad and Henri Jokiharju. Toews had a hat trick to lead the Blackhawks to the victory. Patrick Kane contributed a goal and an assist. Marcus Kruger also scored a goal. Alex DeBrincat, Nick Schmaltz and Jokiharju recorded two assists apiece. Cam Ward registered 26 saves on 30 shots to earn the win.
