Maple Leafs prevail in scorefest
Toronto secured a 7-6 overtime victory Sunday at the Blackhawks as Morgan Rielly scored the game-winner 19 seconds into overtime. Toronto held a 5-4 advantage before Chicago tied it up with 1:24 remaining in the third period on a Patrick Kane goal, but then took a 6-5 lead on Auston Matthews’ fifth goal of the season with 1:02 left. But another Kane goal coming with 29 seconds remaining tied it back up at 6-6 and led to Rielly’s OT heroics. Matthews recorded two goals and two assists in the winning effort. Rielly had the goal plus two assists. John Tavares notched a hat trick. Kasperi Kapanen contributed a goal and an assist. Patrick Marleau and Mitch Marner each tallied two assists. Garret Sparks picked up the win in net despite giving up six goals on 31 shots.
Stars roll past Jets
Dallas earned a 5-1 home win over Winnipeg on Saturday. Tyler Seguin helped lead the way with two gaols and two assists, while Jamie Benn registered two goals and an assist. Alexander Radulov contributed a goal and two assists. Jason Spezza added a pair of assists. Ben Bishop secured the victory in net as he stopped 32 of the 33 shots sent his way.
NHL Betting Trends
Toronto
The Maple Leafs are 7-1 in their last eight games versus the Western Conference. Toronto is 7-1 in the last eight meetings.
Dallas
The home team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. The Stars are 4-0 in their last four home games.
Prediction:
These two teams have serious offensive firepower, but after a pair of wins I think the Stars are going to find a team that can match them score for score here. Toronto has the capabilities to win any high-scoring affair and if it can get some semblance of defense and goaltending, it will be a very tough team to beat. Go with the Leafs in this spot.
