Blues rally in third period
St. Louis scored three third-period goals Thursday night to rally for a 3-2 victory at Winnipeg in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. After trailing 2-0 through two periods, Ryan O’Reilly cut the deficit in half on the power play 1:29 into the third period with assists courtesy of David Perron and Brayden Schenn. Schenn tied the score at 2-2 with 6:31 remaining on a goal assisted by Oskar Sundqvist and Jay Bouwmeester. With 15 seconds remaining in regulation, Justin Schwartz provided the game-winning goal on an assist from Tyler Bozak. Jordan Binnington recorded 29 saves on 31 shots in the winning effort.
Jets collapse in final 20 minutes
Winnipeg fell 3-2 Thursday night at home versus St. Louis in Game 5 to fall behind 3-2 in the series. Adam Lowry gave the Jets a 1-0 advantage only 12 seconds in on a goal assisted by Brandon Tanev and Andrew Copp. Kevin Hayes made it a 2-0 game with 6:25 remaining in the first period on an assist from Dustin Byfuglien. NHL Betting Trends
Winnipeg
The Jets are 3-7 in their last 10 games overall. Winnipeg is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings.
St. Louis
The Blues are 4-0 in their last four Saturday games. St. Louis is 11-4 in its last 15 games overall.
Prediction:
The Jets had a very rough third period Thursday night after failing to add to their two-goal advantage. I think Winnipeg rebounds with a win here to extend it to Game 7. The Jets have shown they can win in St. Louis and they’ll play with an air of desperation tonight. Look for Hellebuyck to have a very strong performance and the Jets to solve Binnington enough to get it done.
