COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets traded enforcer Jody Shelley to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night for a sixth-round pick in this summer’s entry draft.
Shelley, a left wing, will add some muscle to the Sharks’ attack.
He did not score in 31 games this season with Columbus. Signed as a free agent on Jan. 31, 2001, he has 11 goals and 18 assists with 1,025 penalty minutes in 380 games during his NHL career – all with Columbus.
A fan favorite because of his willingness to drop the gloves and fight, Shelley was the franchise leader in penalty minutes.
The trade was announced moments after Columbus lost 4-2 to Phoenix.
