ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry will be sidelined about six weeks after surgery for a lacerated tendon above his right knee.
Perry, the Ducks’ top goal scorer, was expected to be released Friday or Saturday.
He was injured by a skate in the third period of the Ducks’ 1-0 loss at Colorado on Thursday night. The surgery was done that night in Denver by Avalanche team physician Dr. Andy Parker.
“Corey is doing very well this morning, thanks to both clubs’ medical staffs,” Ducks general manager Brian Burke said Friday. “His injury is not career-threatening and we expect him back 100 percent in approximately six weeks.”
Coach Randy Carlyle said the team has recalled Bobby Ryan from Portland.
“We look at him as a player who is still developing. He’s been playing well in the American Hockey League and we’ll see if he can make a contribution playing some offensive minutes,” Carlyle said.
Teemu Selanne said the team will have to bounce back.
“Perry has been a big part of this team the whole year and he’s going to be missed. But a lot of guys are going to have to take more responsibility to fill that hole,” he said.
