NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Patrik Elias scored 4:02 into overtime, lifting the New Jersey Devils into first place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 victory over the lowly Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.
Parise gave the Devils a 1-0 lead in the first period, and Michel Ouellet tied it in the second for Tampa Bay, the last-place team in the East that dropped to 1-7-2 in its previous 10.
Oilers 2, Blue Jackets 1, OT
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Andrew Cogliano scored 1:53 into overtime as Edmonton held off Columbus after the Blue Jackets tied it with less than 1 second left in regulation.
Dan Fritsche scored his ninth of the season to tie it for Columbus with eight-tenths of a second remaining, but made a costly mistake in the extra period. Fritsche turned the puck over in his own zone, resulting in Cogliano’s goal.
Thrashers 3, Wild 2, SO
ATLANTA (AP) – Erik Christensen scored the only goal in the shootout, Johan Hedberg made 37 saves and the Atlanta Thrashers snapped an eight-game losing streak.
Colby Armstrong and Ilya Kovalchuk each scored in the final six minutes, with Kovalchuk’s coming with only 44.9 seconds left in regulation.
Brent Burns and Brian Rolston scored for Minnesota, which lost for the first time in seven games against Atlanta.
Sharks 3, Blackhawks 2
CHICAGO (AP) – Jonathan Cheechoo, Kyle McLaren and Patrick Marleau scored as the San Jose Sharks tied a team record with their eighth straight victory. They also won their sixth straight on the road, tying a team high.
Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews scored for the Blackhawks, whose three-game winning streak ended.
Predators 2, Flames 1, OT
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) – J.P. Dumont scored 2:13 into overtime, leading the Nashville Predators past the Calgary Flames. Scott Nichol also scored for Nashville, which moved past Vancouver into a tie with Colorado for seventh place in the Western Conference.
Craig Conroy had the lone goal for Calgary, which stayed tied with Minnesota atop the Northwest Division after the Wild lost to Atlanta.
