-Jeff Carter, Flyers, scored two goals 13 seconds apart in the second period to lead Philadelphia past Atlanta 4-1.
-Chris Gratton, Lightning, had two goals and an assist in Tampa Bay’s 5-3 win over the New York Rangers.
-Andy McDonald, Blues, scored two goals and set up another to help St. Louis rout Columbus 6-1.
-Guillaume Latendresse, Canadiens, scored 3:18 into overtime to give Montreal a 4-3 victory over Chicago.
-Cam Ward and Eric Staal, Hurricanes. Ward stopped all 19 shots he faced and Staal scored to help Carolina hold off Boston 1-0.
-Ilya Bryzgalov, Coyotes, made 30 saves and Calgary beat Phoenix 3-1.
-Alex Edler, Canucks, scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout and Vancouver beat the New York Islanders 3-2.
SIDNEY STAR
Sidney Crosby, the 20-year-old reigning NHL MVP, topped All-Star voting for the second straight year and will start again for the Eastern Conference. The Pittsburgh captain, in his third NHL season, received 507,274 votes, nearly 200,000 more than anyone else in the East, and about 30,000 more than West leader Nicklas Lidstrom.
GETTING UP THERE
Detroit defenseman Chris Chelios became the second-oldest player to appear in a NHL game Tuesday night against Colorado. At 45 years and 348 days old, Chelios passed Moe Roberts, who played for the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 25, 1951, at 45 years, 347 days. Only Gordie Howe, who was 52 years, 6 days, before he retired in 1980 with the Hartford Whalers, played at an older age than Chelios.
HOME SWEET HOME
New Jersey has won 10 of its last 11 home games after outlasting Buffalo 2-1 in a shootout on Tuesday night. The Devils also beat the Sabres in a shootout on Dec. 28.
ONE-SIDED
Philadelphia has won eight straight against Atlanta and 23 of 30 overall after a 4-1 win on Tuesday night. The Thrashers’ last win over the Flyers was on Nov. 18, 2005 in Philadelphia.
TERRIFIC TY
Ty Conklin made 27 saves to remain unbeaten in eight starts this season, and helped Pittsburgh extend its longest winning streak in nine years to seven by beating Florida 3-1 on Tuesday night. The winning streak is the Penguins’ longest since they won 10 in a row in 1998-99.
SHUTOUTS
Detroit’s Dominik Hasek made 19 saves for his second straight shutout, 1-0 over Colorado on Tuesday night. Hasek has a 134-minute, 13-second scoreless streak for the league-leading Red Wings, who have 18 wins in their last 21 games. … Three of Chris Mason’s 10 NHL shutouts have come against Los Angeles, including a 28-save performance in Nashville’s 7-0 rout on Tuesday night.
SNAPPED
Tampa Bay halted its seven-game losing streak by beating the New York Rangers 5-3 on Tuesday night. … St. Louis’ Manny Legace had his team-record shutout streak end at 185 minutes, 35 seconds early in the third period of a 6-1 win over Columbus.
