-Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller, Sabres. Vanek scored a power-play goal in the second period and Miller made 32 saves in Buffalo’s 1-0 win at Florida.
-Tomas Holmstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom, Red Wings, scored 3:23 apart midway through the third period and Detroit rallied for a 3-2 win over Phoenix.

Buffalo snapped an 0-for-39 power-play drought on the road to beat Florida 1-0 on Wednesday night. It was the Sabres’ second victory in two nights and third straight overall after losing 12 of 13. … Wayne Primeau scored his first goal in 33 games during Calgary’s 5-4 win over San Jose.

Calgary’s Owen Nolan recorded his first hat trick in over eight years at the expense of his former team, scoring three goals in a 5-4 win over San Jose on Wednesday night. Nolan’s last trick came while with the Sharks against Chicago on Oct. 4, 1999.

Anaheim has lost four straight after a six-game winning streak, including a 5-1 loss at Minnesota on Wednesday night. The Ducks have scored just five goals during the skid and have pulled starting goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere before the midpoint in each of their last two contests. … Calgary captain Jarome Iginla has not scored in eight games after being denied again in a 5-4 win over San Jose.

Detroit has a five-game winning streak after rallying for a 3-2 win over Phoenix on Wednesday night.
RARE ROAD LOSS
San Jose lost in regulation on the road for just the second time in the last 17 games (13-2-2) after a 5-4 setback in Calgary on Wednesday night. The Sharks now head home, where they are 11-11-1-3, to begin a six-game homestand Saturday night against Chicago.
IN TROUBLE
Montreal police have issued an arrest warrant former Canadiens star Guy Lafleur, accused of giving contradictory evidence as a witness at his son’s bail hearing. Mark Lafleur, 23, faces more than 20 criminal charges, including sexually assaulting a minor, armed assault, uttering threats and forcible confinement between 2004 and 2007. A Quebec judge said the elder Lafleur testified before a court in November that his son was abiding by a court-ordered curfew while he was staying with his parents. But Lafleur later admitted he drove his son to hotels to spend nights with his teenage girlfriend.
