GOLDEN OVIE
Alexander Ovechkin padded his NHL-leading goal total by scoring twice, including the winner in overtime, to lead the Capitals back from a two-goal deficit to beat Columbus 4-3 Tuesday night. Ovechkin netted a low, hard shot from the right circle 2:28 into the overtime after taking a cross-ice pass from Tom Poti. It was his 45th of the season.
RAKED
Richard Zednik score three goals and Tomas Vokoun stopped all 23 shots he faced and Florida won 8-0 in Toronto on Tuesday night. It was the largest loss of the season for the Maple Leafs, who also had home losses of 7-1 to both Carolina and Washington in October and 6-1 to the New York Rangers in December.
THRASHED
Antero Niittymaki stopped 23 shots to stay perfect in eight decisions against Atlanta and Steve Downie scored with 4:29 left in the third period to give the Flyers a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night. Philadelphia has won nine straight against the Thrashers.
KINGS OF NEW YORK
Alexander Frolov and Anze Kopitar each had a goal and an assist to lead Los Angeles to 4-2 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night. The Kings, the NHL’s worst team coming in, continued their recent improvement by improving to 7-3-1 in their last 11 games. Los Angeles is unbeaten in its last five meetings with Rangers (4-0-1).

The Edmonton Oilers have a new owner, pending approval from the NHL. The 34-member Edmonton Investors Group agreed Tuesday to sell 100 percent of its shares to local pharmacy billionaire Daryl Katz in a deal worth about $200 million. Katz, 46, has tried for 10 months to purchase the team, making five offers starting at $145 million, sweetening the pot each time until the successful bid was proffered late last month.

It was Iginla’s 33rd goal of the season, his first goal in 11 games, after he had been blanked the last 10 games, the longest such stretch since going 10 games without a goal eight seasons ago back in December 1999. … Anaheim beat the Islanders 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Ducks snapped a scoreless streak of 177 minutes, 56 seconds.

Teemu Selanne made his season debut Tuesday night, joining Anaheim’s starting lineup. Selanne, who contemplated retirement and sat out Anaheim’s first 56 games, got back on the ice against the New York Islanders in Nassau Coliseum, the place he played his first game for Anaheim 12 years earlier during his first stint with the Ducks. Selanne chipped in an assist on the first goal in Anaheim’s 3-0 victory over the Islanders.
