Ottawa at Anaheim (8 p.m. EST). The Senators and Ducks face off in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals.
GOING FOR THE CUP
Ottawa will be making its debut in the NHL championship when the Senators face Anaheim in Game of the Stanley Cup finals Monday. The Ducks have only one previous appearance in the finals, having lost Game 7 to New Jersey in 2003.
LUCKY SEVEN
In years ending with a seven since the inception of the NHL in 1927, a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup six of eight times. Ottawa is looking to become the first team from Canada to win Lord Stanley’s prize since Montreal in 1993.
ON THE ROAD
Ottawa opens the Stanley Cup finals on the road with the first two games at Anaheim. The Senators boast a league-best 7-1 road record through the playoffs, but the final marks the first time Ottawa has had to venture outside the Eastern time zone.
SPEAKING
“It should be fun. Anyone can make their predictions, but until you see the two teams clash, it’s really hard to say what’s going to happen.” – Anaheim forward Ryan Getzlaf on the upcoming Stanley Cup finals between the Ducks and Ottawa, which begins on Monday.
