SCORING DEFENSEMEN
Defenseman Samuel Pahlsson scored the game winning goal at 5:44 left in the third period to give the Ducks the 1-0 victory over Ottawa and a 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night. Pahlsson’s linemate Travis Moen scored the game-winning goal in game one.
STRONG IN DEFEAT
Ray Emery stopped 30 of 31 shots, but the Senators lost to the Ducks 1-0 in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night.

Detroit’s Chris Chelios was named the first recipient of the Mark Messier Leader of the Year award. Chelios was honored for his on-ice performance, his leadership skills and charitable efforts. Messier, the retired New York Rangers star, announced the award and its sponsor, a diet supplement company who will donate $25,000 to a charity of Chelios’ choice.
