SNAPPED
Anaheim had its five-game winning streak snapped in dropping a 5-3 decision to Ottawa in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals Saturday night. The Ducks, who fell short of matching a franchise playoff record of six set twice, last year and in 2003, had won five straight since falling behind 2-1 to Detroit in the Western Conference finals. Anaheim also dropped to 13-1 this postseason when scoring two or more goals.
HOME VS. ROAD
The home team has won each game of the Stanley Cup finals after Ottawa posted a 5-3 victory over Anaheim Saturday night. The Senators are now 6-2 at home during the postseason. The Ducks are 0-5 in road Cup finals games in two appearances.
KNOCK OUT
Ottawa forward Dean McAmmond left Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final early in the third period Saturday with a head injury after Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger knocked him to the ice with a forearm. McAmmond, who was credited with the go-ahead goal late in the second period, hit the back of his head on the ice and slid into the right corner. No penalty was called on the play. Pronger was suspended for Game 4 of the Western Conference final after he elbowed Detroit’s Tomas Holmstrom in the head in the Red Wings’ 5-0 win on May 15, the Ducks’ last loss before Saturday night.
SPEAKING
“We’re on our way. We felt we played well tonight. We know how we can beat this team now. That kind of gives us a little boost, obviously.” – Ottawa center Mike Fisher after the Senators beat Anaheim 5-3 Saturday night and cut the Ducks’ series lead to 2-1 in the Stanley Cup finals.
