NEW YORK (AP) The New York Islanders agreed to a one-year deal with right wing Steve Bernier on Thursday.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The 30-year-old Bernier matched his career high with 32 points for New Jersey last season, tying for second on the team with 16 goals.
The Quebec City player was drafted 16th overall by San Jose in 2003 and has 104 goals and 120 assists in 609 career regular-season games with the Sharks, Buffalo, Vancouver, Florida and the Devils. He also has nine goals and 14 assists in 68 playoff games.
Earlier Thursday, the Islanders traded forward Michael Grabner to Toronto for forwards Taylor Beck and Carter Verhaeghe, defensemen Matt Finn and Tom Nilsson and goaltender Christopher Gibson.
