SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Los Angeles forwards Mike Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov missed the Kings’ game against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night because of groin injuries, leaving the club without two of its three leading scorers.
Cammalleri had a team-best 12 goals and eight assists while playing in each of the Kings’ first 23 games. He scored 10 goals in Los Angeles’ first 10 games, but had just one assist in the last five before he was made a late scratch against the Sharks.
Frolov, whose four goals and 16 assists match Cammalleri and Anze Kopitar for a team-leading 20 points, didn’t make the trip to San Jose. Frolov, who has a seven-game scoring streak, has missed three straight games with the injury.
Because of the injuries, 37-year-old defenseman Jon Klemm played his second straight game at forward on a line with Matt Moulson and Brian Willsie. Klemm was recalled from the Kings’ AHL affiliate in Manchester on Sunday.
