EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -Mathieu Garon made 35 saves for his third shutout of the season and Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff had a goal and assist each for the Edmonton Oilers, who beat the New York Islanders 4-0 on Monday night and earned their first regulation win in 17 games.
It was the second victory in a row for the Oilers, who hadn’t won in regulation time since Dec. 2. Marty Reasoner and Jarret Stoll also scored for Edmonton, which had six overtime and shootout victories in that span.
The Islanders dropped their third straight and remained tied with Philadelphia for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Oilers outshot New York 12-10 in the first period but Garon and Islanders counterpart Rick DiPietro turned aside everything in the scoreless frame.
Stars 3, Wild 1
DALLAS (AP) – Antti Miettinen scored two goals to help the Stars end a four-game losing streak with a over the Wild.
Rookie Matt Niskanen also scored for the Stars, who hadn’t lost four in a row since a five-game skid in 2003. Mike Ribeiro, who signed a new five-year, $25 million contract on Monday, added two assists for Dallas.
Brenden Morrow also had two assists for the Stars, 6-0-2 in their last eight home games against the Wild.
Mark Parrish scored Minnesota’s goal. It was his 12th of the season and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games.
Ducks 5, Predators 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Chris Pronger and Corey Perry scored power-play goals 1:10 apart to cap a four-goal spurt in the second period, and the Ducks beat the Predators.
Perry, Chris Kunitz and Ryan Getzlaf each had a goal and an assist, and Travis Moen snapped a 41-game goal drought, helping the Ducks beat Nashville at home for the seventh straight time and 11th in 13 visits by the Predators. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 20 saves.
Nashville’s J.P. Dumont extended his career-best goal streak to five games during a power play, tying the club record shared by Sergei Krivokrasov, Greg Johnson and Steve Sullivan. Defenseman Marek Zidlicky also scored a man-advantage goal for the Predators.
