PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Steve Valiquette made 31 saves to record his second straight shutout over the Philadelphia Flyers in the New York Rangers’ 2-0 win on Saturday.
Nigel Dawes and Scott Gomez scored power-play goals for the Rangers, who have dominated the Flyers in Philadelphia. New York has won 11 of its last 12 games at the Wachovia Center, and is 6-0-1 there since a loss on April 15, 2006.
Valiquette’s only other career shutout came in Philadelphia on Jan. 31. He made 20 saves in a 4-0 win. Valiquette has four wins this season, two in Philadelphia and two in Toronto.
The Flyers have lost two straight to drop out of first place in the Atlantic Division behind Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Evgeni Malkin scored two goals and set up another and Pittsburgh won successive games for the first time since captain Sidney Crosby’s injury.
Malkin’s fourth consecutive multipoint game gave him 69 points for the season, four behind NHL leader Alex Ovechkin of Washington.
n. 18, Malkin has seven goals and 10 assists in nine games, including 11 points in his last four.
Los Angeles, last in the NHL with 49 points but 8-4-1 in its last 13, fell behind 4-0 in the second period and slipped to 3-2-1 on a season-high, eight-game road trip.
Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin won for only the second time in the team’s last 20 games.
Malkin scored twice on the power play – giving him 30 goals – and assisted on Ryan Malone’s 17th, barely 12 hours after Malone’s wife, Abby, delivered the couple’s first child.
