PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Steve Valiquette made 31 saves to record his second straight shutout over the Philadelphia Flyers in the New York Rangers’ 2-0 win on Saturday.
Nigel Dawes and Scott Gomez scored power-play goals for the Rangers, who have dominated the Flyers in Philadelphia. New York has won 11 of its last 12 games at the Wachovia Center, and is 6-0-1 there since a loss on April 15, 2006.
Valiquette’s only other career shutout came in Philadelphia on Jan. 31. He made 20 saves in a 4-0 win. Valiquette has four wins this season, two in Philadelphia and two in Toronto.
The Flyers have lost two straight to drop out of first place in the Atlantic Division behind Pittsburgh.
Penguins 4, Kings 2
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Evgeni Malkin scored two goals and set up another and Pittsburgh won successive games for the first time since captain Sidney Crosby’s injury.
Malkin’s fourth consecutive multipoint game gave him 69 points for the season, four behind NHL leader Alex Ovechkin of Washington.
injured his right ankle Jan. 18, Malkin has seven goals and 10 assists in nine games, including 11 points in his last four.
Los Angeles, last in the NHL with 49 points but 8-4-1 in its last 13, fell behind 4-0 in the second period and slipped to 3-2-1 on a season-high, eight-game road trip.
Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin won for only the second time in the team’s last 20 games.
Malkin scored twice on the power play – giving him 30 goals – and assisted on Ryan Malone’s 17th, barely 12 hours after Malone’s wife, Abby, delivered the couple’s first child.
Maple Leafs 3, Red Wings 2, OT
TORONTO (AP) – Nik Antropov deflected in Anton Stralman’s slap shot 62 seconds into overtime to lift Toronto over Detroit.
Darcy Tucker scored for Toronto in the first period, Nicklas Lidstrom tied it 1-1 in the second, and then the five-time Norris Trophy winner gave Detroit the lead at 11:18 of the third when his long shot was stopped by Vesa Toskala and rebounded off Mikael Samuelsson and into the net.
Leafs captain Mats Sundin tied it 2-2 at 13:35 when his soft shot ricocheted in off the inside of Dominik Hasek’s right skate blade.
Lidstrom’s assist on Samuelsson’s goal was his 54th point, the most among NHL defensemen.
It was Toronto’s fifth afternoon home game in 12 years, and the Maple Leafs won them all.
Wild 4, Islanders 3, OT
into overtime to lift Minnesota and send the New York Islanders to their seventh straight loss.
Brian Rolston had two goals for the Wild, who were outshot 29-18 and trailed 3-2 with 4:05 left in the third period when Sean Bergenheim scored for the Islanders. New York picked up its first standings point since beating Carolina on Jan. 22, dropping the next six in regulation.
Kurtis Foster also scored for Minnesota. Bill Guerin and Andy Hilbert had goals for New York, and Mike Comrie notched two assists.
Thrashers 2, Lightning 1, OT
ATLANTA (AP) – Alexei Zhitnik scored 1:26 into overtime and Atlanta rallied past Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay goaltender Johan Holmqvist was left bowed forward in dejection, his helmet touching the ice, after the winner. Holmqvist and the Lightning shut out the Thrashers for the first two periods.
Kari Lehtonen stopped 27 shots for Atlanta.
Vincent Lecavalier, second in the NHL with 72 points, gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead with a second-period goal.
Atlanta answered with a tying slap shot by Marian Hossa 4:18 into the third period.
The Thrashers, who moved back into a tie with Carolina for the lead in the Southeast Division, snapped a two-game losing streak at home and ended Tampa Bay’s six-game winning streak on the road.
Senators 6, Canadiens 1
OTTAWA (AP) – Jason Spezza scored three goals and a career-high six points, and Ottawa’s top line combined for 15 points.
Daniel Alfredsson, who returned after missing four games because of a nagging hip injury, had two goals and three assists, and Dany Heatley had a goal and three assists as Ottawa’s high-scoring trio was reunited for the first time in 13 games.
Spezza gave the Senators’ a 2-0 lead 1:42 in with a pair of goals 1:20 apart. The playmaking center assisted on goals by Alfredsson and Heatley before completing his first NHL hat trick on a power play 13:36 into the second to increase the lead to 5-0.
Spezza assisted on Alfredsson’s second of the game, on a power play 2:28 into the third, for his sixth point.
Andrei Kostitsyn scored Montreal’s only goal on a 5-on-3 advantage with 25 seconds remaining in the second.
Ray Emery made 33 saves to win his second straight start.
Devils 6, Hurricanes 1
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – Paul Martin scored two goals in an NHL game for the first time, pacing New Jersey’s rout of Carolina.
The offensive outburst was triggered by the Devils defensemen, as Colin White and Johnny Oduya joined Martin in scoring. Dainius Zubrus and Jay Pandolfo also connected, and Martin Brodeur made 22 saves as the Devils ended a two-game losing streak. New Jersey won for only the fourth time in 10 home games.
Keith Aucoin scored for the Hurricanes.
In each of the previous three games, New Jersey fell behind 2-0 and went 1-1-1 in that stretch.
Panthers 6, Bruins 3
BOSTON (AP) – Olli Jokinen and David Booth scored 14 seconds apart in the second period, Richard Zednik had two goals, and Florida beat Boston.
The Panthers won for the fourth time in five games, scoring 24 goals during that stretch.
Nathan Horton and Ville Peltonen had Florida’s other goals.
Glen Murray, Zdeno Chara and Marco Sturm scored for Boston, which lost its third straight home game.
Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves for the Panthers.
The teams – normally conservative offensively – opened things up in a five-goal second period when Boston blew leads of 2-1 and 3-2.
Flames 4, Oilers 1
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) – Owen Nolan scored two goals to lead Calgary over Edmonton.
Dion Phaneuf and Jarome Iginla also scored for Calgary and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 14 shots. Kristian Huselius and Alex Tanguay had two assists apiece.
Robert Nilsson had the only goal for the Oilers, who beat the Flames 5-0 at home on Monday night. Nilsson spoiled Kiprusoff’s shutout bid with 3:55 left in the game.
Stars 6, Blues 2

The Stars set a season high for scoring power-play goals after entering the night 9-for-78 with the man advantage since Jan. 1.
Antti Miettinen had two goals and Jussi Jokinen also scored for Dallas, 9-2 in its last 11 games.
Mike Smith stopped 27 shots in his second straight start in place of No. 1 goaltender Marty Turco, out with a sore neck.
Jay McClement and Jamal Mayers scored for St. Louis, which lost its third straight and has allowed 17 goals during that span.
Avalanche 6, Canucks 2
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Marek Svatos had two goals and an assist, and linemate Tyler Arnason added a goal and two assists for Colorado.
Milan Hejduk also had two goals, Brett Clark scored one, and Jose Theodore made 23 saves as Colorado won for the fourth time in six games to stay within a point of Minnesota in the Northwest Division, four points ahead of Vancouver.
Henrik Sedin and Sami Salo scored power-play goals, and Roberto Luongo made 17 saves before being pulled for the Canucks, who have one win in their last six games – and two in the last 11 – to fall to ninth place in the Western Conference.
Sharks 4, Predators 3
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) – Jonathan Cheechoo scored three goals, including the game-winner with 4:55 left, to help San Jose win its their third straight over Nashville.
Milan Michalek also scored for the Sharks, who won for the sixth time in eight games. Joe Thornton had three assists and needs one more for 500 for his career. San Jose coach Ron Wilson earned his 500th career victory, moving into a tie with Toe Blake for 10th place on the all-time list – one behind Pat Burns.
Vernon Fiddler scored twice for the Predators, who failed to get a point for just the fourth time in 19 games. Scott Nichol also scored for Nashville.
