DETROIT (AP) -Fredrik Modin scored twice and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Red Wings 5-1 on Friday night, handing NHL-leading Detroit its fifth-straight loss.
Rick Nash had a goal and two assists and Nikolai Zherdev added a goal and an assist for Columbus. Ron Hainsey scored the other goal and Dick Tarnstrom had two assists.
Pascal Leclaire made 20 saves.
Pavel Datsyuk scored for the Red Wings and Chris Osgood stopped nine shots before being pulled.
Thrashers 4, Devils 3, SO
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – Marian Hossa scored the tying goal for Atlanta with 18.1 seconds left in regulation and Pascal Dupuis had the decisive tally in the 10th round of a shootout.
Ilya Kovalchuk, who earlier scored his 40th goal, answered Patrik Elias’ shootout goal to send the tiebreaker into extra rounds. Hossa and Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner both found the net in the fourth round, and no one else scored until Dupuis.
Zach Parise, Brian Gionta and John Madden scored for New Jersey, which finished the season series 3-0-1 against Atlanta.
Todd White also scored for the Thrashers to help erase a second-period 2-0 deficit.
Panthers 4, Capitals 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) – Nathan Horton and Kamil Kreps scored third-period goals, and Florida rallied for a victory over Washington.
The victory snapped Florida’s two-game skid and was their first game since Richard Zednik’s frightening neck injury last Sunday.
Rostislav Olesz also scored for the Panthers, who tied Washington for third place in the Southeast Division with 60 points, only two behind division leader Carolina. David Booth added an empty-netter.
Alexander Semin and Tomas Fleischmann scored for the Capitals.
