PITTSBURGH (AP) -Daniel Alfredsson scored on a backhander with 3.2 seconds remaining in overtime, and the Ottawa Senators rallied from three goals down to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Saturday.
Ottawa was at risk of falling out of the Eastern Conference lead for the first time this season before Alfredsson scored the winner on Ottawa’s final rush of overtime.
Dany Heatley scored twice and Cory Stillman added a goal to key the comeback after coach John Paddock broke up the Senators’ top line of Heatley, Alfredsson and Jason Spezza at the start, though they were together at times later in the game.
Petr Sykora, Colby Armstrong and Jeff Taffe scored for the Penguins, whose three-game winning streak was snapped. NHL scoring leader Evgeni Malkin’s 10-game scoring streak was halted.
Blackhawks 6, Kings 5, OT
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Patrick Sharp scored his second goal of the game 1:48 into overtime and Chicago beat Los Angeles after blowing a four-goal lead in the third period.
The Blackhawks built a 5-1 lead in the second period with four goals in a 4:06 span. Martin Havlat and defenseman Andrei Zyuzin scored 15 seconds apart, and Jonathan Toews and Jason Williams scored 70 seconds apart.
Sharp, who leads the Blackhawks with 29 goals, also scored on a power play in the first period to help Chicago win for the fifth time in six games.
Kings defenseman Peter Harrold scored his first NHL goal, and Michael Cammalleri, Tom Preissing, Patrick O’Sullivan and Anze Kopitar added goals in the final 11 minutes of the third.
Devils 4, Islanders 2
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – Zach Parise’s 25th goal snapped a third-period tie and gave New Jersey its first win of the season against the Islanders.
Brian Gionta stretched the lead to two goals 2:13 later for the Devils, who ended a six-game skid against New York and ended the Islanders’ six-game winning streak.
Martin Brodeur made 19 saves and earned his NHL-leading 34th win. Patrik Elias and John Madden scored in the first period for New Jersey, which has won four straight.
Josef Vasicek and Ruslan Fedotenko had goals for the Islanders.
