CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -Henrik Zetterberg scored twice to help the Detroit Red Wings run their win streak to seven with a 4-1 victory Thursday night over the Calgary Flames.
Zetterberg has 12 goals and at least one point in all 14 of Detroit’s games this season, and helped the Red Wings take all three games of a trip to western Canada for the first time in 21 attempts.
Alex Tanguay scored for Calgary, which ended its season-long seven-game homestand at 4-2-1.
Zetterberg’s 12 goals and 24 points lead the NHL. Making his fourth start in a row with Dominik Hasek (hip) sidelined, Chris Osgood made 26 saves to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the season.
Avalanche 3, Penguins 2
DENVER (AP) – John-Michael Liles scored one of Colorado’s three third-period goals to offset Sidney Crosby’s two scores.
The Avalanche are unbeaten in their first six home games and matched the franchise record set in 1994-95, while the team was still in Quebec.
Colorado and Philadelphia (4-0) are the only remaining NHL teams unbeaten at home.
Wojtek Wolski and Ben Guite added goals for the Avalanche. Wolski has a career-best eight-game point streak.
Crosby has seven goals and 17 assists during an 11-game point streak. He was held scoreless in the team’s season opener at Carolina.
Canadiens 5, Flyers 2
MONTREAL (AP) – Saku Koivu had a goal and an assist and Cristobal Huet stopped 16 shots.
Alex Kovalev and Tom Kostopoulos scored special-teams goals in the second period, and Guillaume Latendresse scored in the third on a fine pass by Koivu, who opened the scoring 8:53 in.
Chris Higgins scored on a 5-on-3 at 16:42 of the third as Montreal remained undefeated through regulation in six games (5-0-1).
Mike Richards and Scottie Upshall scored for Philadelphia, which lost for the third time in four games following a five-game winning streak.
Senators 6, Thrashers 4
OTTAWA (AP) – Randy Robitaille scored his first two goals for Ottawa before leaving with an injury.
Robitaille, signed as a free agent earlier this month, scored twice to stake Ottawa to a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but was hit by Thrashers defenseman Garnet Exelby and didn’t return.
The Senators (10-1-0) almost blew it without him. Although Ottawa scored three more times, the Thrashers rallied with four consecutive goals in the third period, including three by Ilya Kovalchuk.
Daniel Alfredsson scored twice, once into an empty net, and set up two others and rookie Nick Foligno and Patrick Eaves also had goals for Ottawa, which needed just 15 saves from goalie Ray Emery in only his second start of the season.
Ducks 2, Blue Jackets 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Mathieu Schneider scored the only goal in a shootout in his Anaheim debut, helping the Ducks snap a four-game losing streak.
Schneider, a defenseman signed as a free agent during the offseason, beat Blue Jackets goalie Fredrik Norrena with a shot between the pads.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere blocked shots by Sergei Fedorov, Rick Nash and David Vyborny during the shootout, finishing it with a glove save of Vyborny’s shot.
Shortly after Anaheim’s Rob Niedermayer broke a scoreless tie 13 seconds into the third period, Nikolai Zherdev tied it on a power play with his third goal of the season.
Rangers 2, Capitals 0
NEW YORK (AP) – Chris Drury scored his first goal since opening night, and Henrik Lundqvist earned another shutout as the New York Rangers went on their first winning streak of the season.
Lundqvist made 31 saves and has been a big reason why the punchless Rangers have had success in the early going.
He has allowed 20 goals in playing all 12 games and already has three shutouts this season, 10 in his three-year NHL career. New York (5-6-1) has won two straight and is 3-1 on its six-game homestand despite scoring a league-low 21 times during the young season.
Islanders 4, Lightning 0
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) – Rick DiPietro turned aside 28 shots for his 12th career shutout and added an assist.
Bill Guerin, Josef Vasicek, Ruslan Fedotenko and Trent Hunter scored for the Islanders, who beat the Lighting for the first time in nine contests (0-5-3), dating back to a 3-0 win at home on March 21, 2004.
The Lightning got 28 saves from Marc Denis. Tampa Bay has lost all six road games and has allowed 28 goals away from home.
Blues 3, Wild 2
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Jay McKee scored the winning goal in the third period for St. Louis.
Keith Tkachuk and Martin Rucinsky also scored for the Blues, who have yet to lose back-to-back games this season. Manny Legace stopped 23 shots for his sixth win in eight starts.
Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra each had a goal and an assist in their returns for Minnesota. After opening 7-0-1, the Wild are winless in five games – their longest stretch since a seven-game streak Feb. 22-March 7, 2004.
Bruins 4, Sabres 3
BOSTON (AP) – Marco Sturm scored in overtime and added an assist for Boston.
Sturm beat Ryan Miller and scored with 52.3 seconds remaining after he redirected a shot from Aaron Ward, who had gently flipped the puck toward the net.
Tim Thomas made 27 saves for Boston, who beat the Sabres for the third time in its last 11 home games against Buffalo.
Predators 3, Canucks 0
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – David Legwand and Martin Erat scored on Nashville’s first two shots and Dan Ellis made 29 saves, lifting Nashville to its first road win of the season.
Roberto Luongo finished with just 12 saves for the Canucks, who only have one win in seven games at home this season – and just one in their last five overall.
Jason Arnott scored on a power play with 8.6 seconds left in the game to finish off the scoring for the Predators.
Ellis has two shutouts in three starts with Nashville, and wins in all four career NHL starts, including one with the Stars in 2003-04.
