OTTAWA (AP) -Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Neil scored 1:40 apart in the third period to rally the Ottawa Senators to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
Cristobal Huet, who stopped Alfredsson on a penalty shot in the second, was within 5:10 of his second shutout in two starts but the Senators captain tied it at 1.
Neil gave Ottawa the lead when he beat Huet with a shot from the right circle with 3:30 left.
Alfredsson added an empty-net goal for his 13th of the season – his fourth in three games – and the Senators improved to 14-2-0. Ottawa lost 4-1 to Washington on Thursday to end its team-record, eight-game winning streak.
Martin Gerber stopped 28 shots for his NHL-leading 11th win. Huet made 34 saves.

TORONTO (AP) – Marcel Hossa scored the decisive goal in the shootout and Steve Valiquette made 32 saves as the New York Rangers beat Toronto in the annual Hall of Fame game.
Valiquette spelled regular goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who had played every minute of New York’s previous 16 games this season. With his parents watching in the stands, Valiquette helped the Rangers win their first road game (1-5-1). They were the last team in the NHL to win away from home this season.
Nik Antropov was stopped by Valiquette on the first shootout attempt. Brendan Shanahan was the first New York shooter and beat Vesa Toskala. Mats Sundin shot high and wide before Hossa got his chance.
Sean Avery set up Shanahan for a goal and scored one himself for the Rangers during the same shift in the second period. That came after Avery exchanged words and shoves with Toronto agitator Darcy Tucker during pregame warmups.
Alexei Ponikarovsky scored both of Toronto’s goals in regulation.

The game was delayed a few minutes as Roenick skated in front of the Sharks’ bench with the puck raised above his head.
Roenick became the third American-born player to reach 500 goals. The nine-time All-Star ranks 40th in goals and 44th in points on the NHL career lists.
