Purcell caps Oilers’ rally with OT goal, 4-3 win over Ducks

ANAHEIM, California (AP) Teddy Purcell scored 1:16 into overtime as the Edmonton Oilers twice rallied from a third-period deficit before earning a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
In Wednesday’s other game, Sidney Crosby and David Perron scored in the shootout to help the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3.
Oscar Klefbom and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored tying goals in the third period for the Oilers, who ended a six-game losing streak at Honda Cente. Purcell ended it with a breakaway, roaring past Rickard Rakell for his third goal of the season.
Anders Nilsson made 34 saves for Edmonton. Leon Draisaitl had a goal and two assists, matching the highest-scoring game of the 20-year-old German’s career.
Corey Perry scored two goals for the Ducks, including the 300th of his career in the third period. Anaheim has earned points in six consecutive games in November, but has lost back-to-back home games.
Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury stopped Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais in the tiebreaker after the Penguins pulled even at 3-3 thanks to Patric Hornqvist’s goal with 6:25 remaining in the third period.
Pascal Dupuis scored 13 seconds into the game in his return to the Pittsburgh lineup following a health scare during the team’s recent road trip. Olli Maatta also scored for the Penguins, and Fleury finished with 32 saves.
Brendan Gallagher, Brian Flynn and Andrei Markov scored for the Canadiens.
