COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets selected three-time All-Star Rick Nash as captain Wednesday, replacing the recently traded Adam Foote.
The 23-year-old Nash leads the Blue Jackets in scoring with 35 goals and 23 assists in 68 games. The left winger scored three goals in the All-Star game in January, the 15th hat trick in All-Star history.
Nash, the first overall pick in the 2002 draft, will make his debut as captain Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Foote was traded Feb. 26 to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for draft picks.
