MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -Idaho sophomore defensive tackle Marvin C. Jones Jr., accused of selling cocaine to undercover police officers, was arrested after a two-week investigation, Assistant Police Chief David Duke said Friday.
Jones was arrested Thursday and booked into the Latah County Jail for investigation of three counts of delivery of a controlled substance. The 20-year-old player posted $10,000 bond and was released after a court appearance Friday, according to Latah County Jail records.
The arrest came after an investigation in which Jones is accused of selling cocaine to undercover officers on three separate occasions, Duke said. A search of Jones’ apartment netted more than $1,600 in cash, including marked money that officers used in the undercover buys, Duke said.
Idaho sports information director Becky Paull referred reporters to university spokeswoman Tania Thompson, who released a statement saying privacy laws preclude officials from commenting on individual cases. Jones’ number is unlisted.
Duke said the investigation was continuing and more arrests could follow.
Jones, 6-foot-2, 300 pounds, from Vallejo, Calif., played in nine games for the Vandals last season, finishing with 19 tackles.
