(STATS) – Former Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges, the 2018 STATS FCS Walter Payton Award winner, received a minicamp invitation from the Pittsburgh Steelers following the NFL Draft Saturday night.
Hodges was voted the top offensive player in the FCS after he passed for a school-record 4,283 yards and accounted for 40 total touchdowns as a senior. The three-time Southern Conference offensive player of the year also became the FCS leader in career passing yards (14,584), surpassing Alcorn State’s Steve McNair in his final game.
Two of Hodges’ teammates, wide receiver Kelvin McKnight and defensive end Ahmad Gooden, signed undrafted free agent deals with the Denver Broncos.
