SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -Syracuse wide receiver Taj Smith was granted a medical hardship and an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA after missing most of last season with a fractured collarbone.
Syracuse announced Wednesday the NCAA had approved a waiver filed by the school with the Big East Conference.
Smith, a junior college transfer, will have two more years left to play at Syracuse. He had 12 receptions for 227 yards in four games last season for the Orange (4-8). He missed the last eight games.
