Detroit right wing Tomas Kopecky played in his first career postseason game Tuesday night and got called for the first two penalties of the 5-0 victory over Anaheim.

Tomas Holmstrom’s power-play goal in the first period of Detroit’s 5-0 victory Tuesday night was the first the Ducks have allowed at home in these playoffs after killing off their previous 33 short-handed situations.

The Senators are trying to become the third straight Canadian team to reach the Stanley Cup finals and first to win the title since Montreal in 1993. Ottawa leads Buffalo 3-0 in the Eastern Conference finals with Game 4 at home Wednesday night.

Anaheim is 0-for-31 on the power play over its last five games, including 0-for-4 in a 5-0 loss to Detroit on Tuesday night that left the Ducks trailing the Western Conference finals 2-1.
BANGED UP
Detroit forward Tomas Holmstrom needed 13 stitches to his forehead Tuesday night after he was slammed into the glass by Anaheim’s Rob Niedermayer and Chris Pronger during the second period of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals. Holmstrom, who scored in the first and second periods of the 5-0 victory, took stitches to close two cuts and returned for the start of the third period.
