2014 No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney out nine months

HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – The Houston Texans haven’t been able to see much of their No. 1 pick this year and given the recent timetable for Jadeveon Clowney’s knee injury, 2015 might wind up being a lost year as well.

View Updated NFL Odds

Earlier this week the Texans placed Clowney on injured reserve with a right-knee injury, which effectively ended his rookie season. He’s appeared in just four games this season and has posted zero sacks after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick back in May of this year.

What’s even more troubling about this situation is that ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Clowney’s timetable for recovery has been set at nine months following microfracture surgery on Monday. It’s regarded as one of the worst surgeries an NFL player can undergo, although Clowney has youth on his side at 21 (22 in February). Based on his projected recovery time, Clowney could miss the majority, if not all of the 2015 NFL season.

Houston will travel to Indianapolis on Sunday to take on the Colts at 1:00PM ET. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Texans are 7-point road dogs versus the Colts while the over/under total has been set at 49 points.
