Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators 3/28/16 NHL Picks & Predictions

With the way the Avalanche have struggled defensively in front of Semyon Varlamov, things could get ugly tonight when Colorado visits the Nashville Predators at 8:00PM ET.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Predators are -235 money line favorites over the Avalanche, who have +195 odds to pull off what would be a big upset. As for the total, the number currently sits at 5 goals.

Varlamov will start between the pipes tonight for the Avalanche and he’s played well in his last two games but lost both contests. His defense has been a big factor in Varlamov allowing six goals in those games and it will likely be a problem again tonight against a Nashville team has won five of its last six contests.

Speaking of Nashville, the Predators will start their No. 1 in Pekka Rinne, who deflected 18 of 19 shots in a 5-1 win against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Rinne only had to face three shots in the second period and nine shots over the final 40 minutes, which gives you an indication that defense hasn’t been an issue for Nashville like it has for Colorado. Rinne is now 32-19-10 on the season.

On top of their stellar record over their last six games, the Preds are also 4-0 in their last four home games, 6-1 in their last seven playing on one day of rest, and 8-3 in their last 11 games coming off win. Nashville is also 9-3 in its last 12 home games versus Colorado while the home team is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
